Rag and Pulp Binding

Marlyn Bonaventure

This volume of Uppercase: Rag & Pulp is bound with the intention of presenting a contrast with the vivid work within. The muted shades of the handmade pulp and Japanese papers, comprised of various textures, balance weight and transparency, welcoming the viewer into the surprise of the vibrant color and movement of the text.

The flat back binding allows the book to open flat and the text block is sewn on tapes to supports the heaviness of the book. The edges are decorated with graphite and the headband is rolled leather.
